Free and Easy (1930) |
Karl and Buster Keaton were very close friends and Keaton gave Karl, who was beginning to feel the effects of sound on his career, a cameo in this film. Here Karl plays himself, being given directions for a relatively innocuous scene involving a mine. Dorothy Sebastian looks on. |
Close-up of Karl as the director describes what sounds like a pretty straightforward scene. |
Straightforward, that is, until Buster strays on the set and rests his leg on what he doesn't realize is a dynamite detonator! For once Karl finds himself in a mess for which he himself was not the cause. |
Free and Easy is available on DVD as part of the Buster Keaton Collection from TCM Archives. |
